Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or MBBS is the medical program that is an undergraduate program. In India, the medical applicant has to pursue this program to get the license to practice as a doctor in allopathic medicine. In the program, the areas covered are different fields of medicine and human anatomy, types of diseases and how to cure them. There is scope for specialization in this program in the fields of general medicine, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry, anesthesiology, gynecology, dermatology, etc. that can be pursued in the masters level.

Eligibility criteria for the course is a 50% marks in aggregate in the 10+2 level. In the +2 level, the mandatory subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. NEET is the entrance test that must be cleared for qualifying in the program in different colleges throughout the country except for AIIMS and JIIPMER. The course period is five and a half years. Exams are conducted on a semester basis, where there are theory and practical papers. In the five and half year’s course duration, there is a house staff ship part. After the program completion, there is a mandatory internship program for one year. Hand-on-experience is one of the biggest benefits the students get in this course.


BDS or Bachelor of Dental Surgery is an undergraduate course. This course is the gateway of an aspirant to enter the field of dentistry and become a dentist. The course duration is of 5 years among which a year of mandatory internship. The eligibility criteria for the course are the same as the MBBS program, i.e. 50% in 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. The course is available as a part-time and full-time option. After the completion of the course, the candidate becomes a dentist to diagnose, prevent and treat oral diseases. There are approximately 300 dental colleges in India that offer the BDS program.
